COURSE LEARNING OBJECTIVES
This course is intended to address the management of change (MOC) requirements of the ISM Code; TMSA (Element 7: Management of Change); Management Responsibility related to ISO Standards and ISPS Code (Part A/11: Company Security Officer
This course enhances awareness on how to establish procedures for evaluating and managing changes to operations, ship’s equipment or personnel by verifying that safety, environmental and other requirements are not compromised as a result.
On completion, successful participants will be able to understand that:
- A Management of Change (MoC) system is a combination of policies and procedures used to evaluate the potential impacts of a proposed change so that it does not result in unacceptable risks.
- Developing an effective MoC strategy requires establishing, documenting, and successfully implementing formal policies to evaluate and manage both temporary and permanent modifications in the facility or ship including equipment, materials, operating procedures and conditions, and personnel.
CONTENTS
Changes to equipment, suppliers, personnel (including third party contractors) operating conditions or procedures, or changes to the size or composition of the fleet or company organisation can significantly increase the risk of an incident.
The scope of the management of change process can range from minor change, such as a software upgrade, to a major organisational change.
It is imperative therefore, to have in place an effective and efficiency process ashore and onboard to manage changes that have or could have an impact to the safety, environmental, security and occupational health activities of the system through their implementation phases.
AIM OF THE COURSE
This course aims to provide participants with:
- Tools, methodologies and concerns to ensure effective handling of the management of change process.
- Successful completion of this course will enable participants to ensure risks impact during a permanent, temporary, or emergency change, are identified, handled and managed through a systematic process.
Prerequisites:
Participants are recommended to have the following prior knowledge before attending this course: None.
